Hi Liz,As I cycled to work this morning, gazing at the Atlantic Ocean, it occured to me that it wasn’t so long ago that you were here admiring the view of the ocean from the Parc vistas. And now, you can admire the view of the Pacific. What a feat! Nearly 10 000 km on your own power on a bike loaded with heavy gear. We’re used to hills in this part of the country, but we don’t climb with hundred lb weights on our bikes. Best of luck finding a good job and a place to live. One small suggestion ; if you want to keep cycling, find a place which is a fair distane from your place of work (say 20 km) and commute by bicycle. That’s how I got my cycling legs. Although, I’m not sure if you can do that in the winter in BC. Again best of luck!Michel

I know MULTIPLE friends who majored in music, then quit because they had very little career opportunity. That being said, you can be a music teacher without majoring in music. You could major in education and minor in music for example. You could major in business and open a music-related store/business. Just because you like music, does not mean you’re limited to the performance music major.

Nice post, I dislike PETA for other reasons which is why I read it through but I definitely agree with you regarding their silly ads. I’ve been a vegetarian for a little over 10 years myself and I’ve had some minor health problems directly related to it, my boyfriend of 2 years on the other hand has a normal diet. Never once have I blinked an eye that he eats meat, I consider it healthier in fact, especially since he works in an industry with a lot of physical demands. We both have average body weight for our height, an active sex life, basically there really isn’t any difference between us because of our diets. It’s a personal choice, and things like these pointless ads create a stigma for those vegetarians who don’t really care what other people do. Pretty much everyone I know has gone through some period of apologizing that they eat meat around me because they assume I’m some crazy anti-meat activist, it’s rather bizarre. Anyway, that’s a bit of my perspective on this.

And so does too much meat and protein, especially when overheated/burnt (hetrocyclic amines)… I do agree that too much sugar is a problem , but it’s not the *only* issue to our health problems. Can’t blame it all on one thing… just because sugar/carbs are bad in this new article, does’t mean it’s any better to replace it with excessive amounts of protein and fat, and vice versa. Moderation is key, most of the time.
